Recruitment:

I have applied to several Trucking companies, locally and national OTR companies. One local company did offer me a job, Cal Frac. Went in for the interview, the interview put down on paper the compensation 76,000-100,000 a year. That looks real good, but it is also 100 hrs a week for two weeks then a week off with no Sabbath negotiations possible. So I decided to try an OTR company where I can make efforts withe my Hours of Service to try to ensure a 34 reset on the Sabbath- although I am sure it wont always work out that way.

Werner: Offers $355 a week to train and starts out at $0.26 Mile, $0.32 in a Year and the recruiter was not very easy to educate concerning military issues see here http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/report-a-bad-trucking-company-here/136940-werner-and-vets.html

FFE: 455 a week to train then $0.29 / mile , $0.34 / MI in a year. The recruiter was a very difficult person to get a hold of AFTER she sent me an email asking me to contact her.

Prime: $500 a week for 4 weeks, then $600 a week to finish training, then $0.33 /MI , $0.39 - 0.40 / MI after a year. See here http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/prime/137490-prime-slc.html

There were several other companies- but these three were on my short list.

Over all, Prime is where I am headed - I begin Orientation in Salt Lake City Utah on Monday, 14 MAR 11.

My recruiter with Prime was respectful when I called her, took the time to place my phone number with my name when I called, that is if I could get through without leaving a voicemail of course. However she was very responsive in digital coms, always replied to my emails, even in her off time. She did not argue, or hem and haw, answered all my questions, and was respectful. She made sure that I knew that she was batting up for me, I got the impression that she loved her job. Something that I did not pick up on with the other recruiters.

So Monday- I start my fourth profession, that is pending that I pass my CDL Test on Friday, , I am not worried that I will. I am a little concerned with a Dock/Ally back- I have only practiced that manuever three times.

Be a Blessing
