Sermon at Fruita

Preached the Sermon on patience today at Fruita SDA church. It was good, for the children's story I applied patience to an event when I was five or so. I had wanted a bookNOW from the Safeway store there in Leadville CO, mom said wait for another time. I wanted it now, so I tucked it under my shirt. She noticed but I didnt know that. We made it through the check out. I thought I would get my prize, then the butcher with his apron smeared with blood appeared bradishing a monstrous clever. He quietly explained to me what happened to little boys who stole books.

After the sermon, I was standing in the foyer as usual talking and shaking hands. One gentleman clamped me on the back and said, "Son you have a bright future as a pastor. You make folks smile, and feel bad at the same time."
I said. "Thank you Sir, but the Lord doesn't have a flock for me to tend at the moment, I begin a trucking career on Monday." He simply shook his head.

But one lady looked at me, and said "Nathan, you are tending to us today." She walked off.

I had mixed feelings about that :)

  1. And like I told you, your "flock" now drives the big rigs and eats at truck stops. God knew this is where you would be for the time He wants you there. You are amazing and whether you are jumping out of perfectly good planes in the ARMY, preaching and evangelistic series in Africa, or hauling a load of explosive fuel across the USA...you are His servant and in His hands. AND...I love you and respect you through whatever you end up doing!
